Abstract
This research aims to measure the effect of music on different types of psychophysiological response by listening to a sequence of musical styles with Christian religious content. To carry out the study, 35 students from Colombia Adventist University participated. Different measurements were taken over time of three different psychophysiological responses: Galvanic Skin Response (GSR), Alphabrain wave, and Heart Rate (HR). These measures were registered while listening to a musical sequence formed by melodies belonging to eight different musical styles: Classical Music, Merengue, not Christian Rock, Christian Rock, Ballad, Reggaeton, Vallenato, and Martial Hymn. In addition, reliability and validity of the various measures were calculated. Among other results, different patterns in psychophysiological responses of the subjects to listen to the different music styles were revealed. Furthermore, different lines for future research based on the results found and discussion are proposed.
