Abstract

The setting up of a new settlement in Prehistoric times entailed a great effort, especially if the settlement followed the Argaric model. The consolidation/restorations works started on the archaeological site of Peñalosa, which the public will be allowed to visit, have enabled us to go more deeply into the construction systems used, the mistakes that were made and the solutions that were adopted. This paper deals with the difficulties of constructing on a hill adapting a predetermined urban framework to topography of the location. It tackles the materials used, the type of foundation and the type of wall used according to the function of the structures and the possible causes of their deterioration. The study is based on the work undertaken in a specific zone of Acropolis —essentially domestic buildings and areas of circulation— and the upper terrace —stretches of the southern, eastern and northern wall— of the archaeological site.
