The selection of individuals for the various editorial roles aims to represent diverse perspectives, genders, geographies, and institutions to enrich the editorial process and avoid bias. For the editorial team, editorial board, and advisory board, we seek committed individuals aligned with ethical principles and with a track record of research and evaluation in our field of study.
Editorial Board Selection Policy
- Purpose
This policy establishes the criteria, procedures, and responsibilities related to the selection, appointment, permanence, and renewal of the Editorial Board members of International Journal of Racket Sports Science, aiming to ensure scientific quality, editorial transparency, academic diversity, and compliance with international publishing best practices.
- Definition of the Editorial Board
The Editorial Board of International Journal of Racket Sports Science is the academic and scientific body responsible for advising the editorial team on matters related to editorial policy, scientific quality, journal visibility, publication ethics, and strategic development.
- Composition
The Editorial Board shall consist of national and international researchers and academics with recognized expertise in the journal’s thematic areas. Its composition should promote:
- Geographic and institutional diversity.
- Gender balance and academic representation.
- Participation of experts with experience in research and scientific publishing.
- Inclusion of members with editorial and peer-review experience.
- Eligibility Criteria
Candidates for the Editorial Board should preferably meet the following criteria:
- Hold a doctoral degree or equivalent research experience.
- Have recent and relevant scientific publications.
- Possess experience as an author, reviewer, or editor in academic journals.
- Maintain an active academic profile (ORCID, Google Scholar, Scopus, Web of Science, or similar).
- Demonstrate commitment to ethics and best practices in scholarly publishing.
- Have no conflicts of interest that could compromise editorial independence.
- Selection Procedure
The selection of Editorial Board members shall follow this procedure:
- The Editor-in-Chief and/or Editorial Committee will identify potential candidates according to the journal’s thematic and strategic needs.
- Candidates may be proposed by:
- The Editor-in-Chief.
- Members of the Editorial Committee.
- Academic or scientific institutions.
- Open calls issued by the journal.
- The candidate’s academic and scientific profile will be evaluated.
- A formal invitation will be sent by the Editor-in-Chief.
- Acceptance of the appointment must be provided in writing.
- Term of Appointment
Editorial Board members shall be appointed for a term of three (3) years, renewable according to performance evaluation, participation, and the journal’s needs.
- Duties and Responsibilities
Editorial Board members shall:
- Advise on editorial policies and thematic scope.
- Promote the scientific and ethical quality of the journal.
- Support peer-review processes when required.
- Recommend reviewers and potential authors.
- Promote the journal within academic and scientific networks.
- Participate in editorial meetings or consultations when requested.
- Promptly disclose any conflicts of interest.
- Evaluation and Renewal
Membership continuity shall be periodically evaluated considering:
- Level of participation and responsiveness.
- Contribution to the journal’s development and visibility.
- Participation in peer review or editorial advisory activities.
- Compliance with ethical and editorial standards.
The journal may decide on the renewal, suspension, or termination of membership.
- Grounds for Removal
A member may be removed from the Editorial Board for:
- Repeated failure to fulfill responsibilities.
- Prolonged lack of response.
- Conduct contrary to academic or editorial ethics.
- Undisclosed conflicts of interest.
- Voluntary resignation.
- Transparency
The updated composition of the Editorial Board shall be published on the official website of International Journal of Racket Sports Science, including the institutional affiliation and country of each member.
