Abstract

«Constitution of an identitarye instance in "El grafógrafo" by Salvador Elizondo». This analysis of the celebrated story "El grafógrafo" written by the Mexican novelist Salvador Elizondo, and published in 1972, proposes a text grammar of the story. The approach is in six parts: 1) the text 2) paratexts 3) the corpus of the story 4) correspondences and conventions 5) the self; and 6) conclusions. The second part describes the forms of text organization at each level: programs of meaning in the title and dedication, including the manner in which they are related; characteristics of the story proper, the connection of the story to other literary forms and the particularities of the presence of a self which reveals a dense and solid self-confirmation which becomes an axis of meaning. We observe the production of an identity of power by means of writing, and its relation to the figure of hierarchy.
