Abstract

It has been an old hypothesis that one relating Beaker pottery with the celebration of certain rituals where alcoholic beverages had a major role, in a competitive context of emulation related with the initial emergence of social ranking. Recent content analyses made out of several vessels from different areas of Iberia have shown that beer was consumed in some of them. In this paper we publish new content analyses made on Beaker vessels from the Ambrona Valley (Soria) (Abrigo de Carlos Álvarez and Los Dolientes I, Miño de Medinaceli), showing that Beer was also present in the large Beaker storage vessels, and that other alcoholic beverages were also consumed in this type of pottery.
