Abstract
The aim of this work is to present the main results of two archaeological interventions carried out in the city of Medina Elvira (9th-11th centuries). One was located where the urban center is supposed to have been, and this seems to be confirmed by the density of structures. The second intervention was located in one of the eastern limits of the city, where a necropolis has been possible to documented, although at some point the city continued to grow beyond this first limit. Although both interventions were carried out using small-sized trenches, the results allow us to provide new data on the organization of Madinat Ilbira, the capital of the Granada plain in the Emirate and Caliphate times.
