Abstract
This paper offers a theoretical analysis of human behaviour in reference to abiotic resource exploitation, such as lithics (siliceous rocks). This analysis is based on economic anthropology. The exploitation of lithic resources by prehistoric populations is regarded as socially instituted activity. Hence, only non-formal economic theories can faithfully account for the nature of lithic exploitation. Further, we propase source-location predictive models designed by behavioural variables as theinitial analytical strategy for source determinations. The sources highlighted should be corroborated by the source-location traditional models (petroarchaeology). Hence, not only shall we have access to the source location, but also to the explanation of location behaviour.
