Abstract

We present a study on the remains of an aqueduct of the Roman period in the municipality of Bétera in the province now known as Valencia. According to recent research, the pre-Roman place-name of Bétera was linked to the presence of water. This work analyses the features of the relics and their obvious relationship with the water supply to the rural Roman settlement of L’Horta Vella, equipped with a large Roman Imperial baths. This example is part of a set of manifestations of the culture of water in the territoria consisting of the triangle formed by the Roman towns of Saguntum, Valentia and Edeta. Evidence of the irreuse in the Islamic period has also been found.
