It gives us great pleasure to present this monographic issue published at the request of the editorial team of the Publicaciones journal of the University of Granada.
The evaluation of teaching in general and university teaching in particular has become a central topic in Latin America and the Caribbean in recent decades. Many countries have placed their trust in evaluative research as a key factor to improve the quality of their education systems. The evaluation of systems, institutions, teaching staff, skills, etc. has become a central focus of the work of educational researchers. In addition to its applied nature, this evaluation is also founded on investigative rigour to improve processes. The objective is to foster improvement and innovation in education based on analysis that takes into account current realities.
