About the Journal
MODULEMA is a multidisciplinary and international scientific journal, edited by the University of Granada and the Research Group “Curricular Innovation in Multicultural Contexts” (HUM-358). This open-access publication, with a continuous periodicity, is dedicated to the dissemination of scientific research addressing cultural diversity from various perspectives and disciplines.
With legal deposit ML-37-2017 and ISSN 2530-934X, MODULEMA's main objective is to generate and promote rigorous knowledge about cultural diversity, aiming to enrich academic studies and contribute to the development of practical tools that foster the understanding and management of diversity in social, educational, and health sectors.
Mission and Objective
The journal accepts original and unpublished works, whether theoretical or empirical, that are not currently under evaluation by other publications. All received articles undergo a double-blind peer-review process, ensuring the academic quality of the published manuscripts. Texts may be submitted in Spanish, English, French, and Portuguese, reflecting the journal's international character and its commitment to global accessibility.
At MODULEMA, we seek to establish ourselves as a leading academic space for the study of cultural diversity, promoting interdisciplinary dialogue and facilitating the transfer of knowledge toward society and public policy. Our mission is to serve as a meeting point for researchers, educators, and professionals from various fields, aiming to foster reflection and exchange on how cultural diversity influences and integrates into different contexts.
We invite researchers, academics, and professionals to actively participate in this journal by contributing their work to strengthen the knowledge base on cultural diversity and its impact on contemporary society.
History and Relevance
The journal MODULEMA was born as part of an initiative within the Teaching Innovation Project titled "Research and Knowledge Transfer on Cultural Diversity," approved in the Call for Innovation and Good Teaching Practices Projects (2016-2017) organized by the Quality, Innovation, and Foresight Unit of the University of Granada.
The primary objective of this project was to bring the academic world closer to society through the creation of an electronic research journal focused on cultural diversity. Through this project, research work conducted by undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral students has been promoted, as well as the participation of other professionals in the field.
The journal was conceived as a platform that not only contributes to academic training but also generates a body of knowledge useful for teaching across various degree programs that address cultural diversity. Furthermore, it seeks to fulfill a transcendental function: transferring that knowledge to society by offering relevant information that can be utilized by public administration and other key sectors. This has a positive impact on improving social, educational, and health aspects, among others, related to the cultural diversity of today's society.
The creation of MODULEMA is backed by the Research Group "Curricular Innovation in Multicultural Contexts" (HUM-358), whose prestige and trajectory in the field of cultural diversity are fundamental to ensuring the quality and relevance of the content published in the journal. The commitment to an open-access scientific publication also responds to the University of Granada's mission to foster research, knowledge transfer, and the dissemination of innovative studies in the social sphere.
In this context, the University Master's Degree in Cultural Diversity, taught by the University of Granada at its Melilla campus, has been a fundamental pillar for the generation of knowledge in this area. The journal provides a space for the publication of Master's Theses, allowing relevant studies on cultural diversity to be shared and extended to society, contributing to the analysis and reflection on this topic from various academic and professional perspectives.
In this way, MODULEMA establishes itself as a multidisciplinary and international scientific journal that not only reflects the academic commitment of the University of Granada but also has the ultimate goal of improving our society through critical reflection on cultural diversity.
Target Audience
MODULEMA's target audience is composed of researchers, academics, undergraduate and postgraduate students, and doctoral candidates, as well as professionals from various disciplines—such as education, sociology, psychology, and social sciences—interested in the study of cultural diversity. Furthermore, the journal is directed toward international organizations, governments, and social entities working to promote diversity and inclusion. Its purpose is to provide a space for the dissemination of research and knowledge applicable to academia, public policy, and society at large.

The journal MODULEMA is funded through the sponsorship of the Quality, Innovation, and Foresight Unit and the Research Group “Curricular Innovation in Multicultural Contexts” (HUM-358) of the University of Granada, as well as through grants provided by the Quality, Innovation, and Foresight Unit and the Vice-Rectorate for Research and Transfer of the same university.
