Los Cornelii: una familia significativa en Germania Superior y Germania Inferior. Testimonios epigraficos.

Abstract

According to the number of members and the prestige reached, the Cornelii are included in the group ofSignificant Families both in Upper Germany and Lower Germany. The documentation provided by the epigraphy allows us to make an onomastic analysis and also to analyse the social structures of this gens in both Germanic provinces. The most outstanding feature of the study of the personal names of this family group is the high grade of romanization with an evident influence of the latin cognomina. The social ambit reveals the importance of some members of this family, who belonged to the senatorial class.
