- “El Criminalista Digital. Papeles de Criminología” will acknowledge receipt of the originals in all cases, at which point the evaluation process begins.
- The submission of originals to “El Criminalista Digital. Papeles de Criminología” implies acceptance of the “double-blind” evaluation process.
- Works will be evaluated by subject matter experts integrated into a pool of external evaluators separate from the Editorial Board to ensure the impartiality of the result. Each evaluator will receive a copy of the work, with all references to the author removed, and will issue a reasoned report, taking into consideration: the relevance of the topic, the originality and perspective of its approach, the technical quality of the critical apparatus, the rigor and precision of the arguments and the bibliographic body; consequently, they will propose the acceptance, rejection, or revision of the work. Should both reports be discrepant, a third external evaluator will be consulted.
- The authors will receive the evaluation result and, if necessary, will have a period of time to make the appropriate amendments or submissions.
USE OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE
Transparency and Mandatory Declaration
If any AI tool has been used for content generation (text, code, images) or for data analysis and processing, authors are obligated to declare its use in a final section titled “Declaration on the Use of AI”
This declaration must be explicit and include:
- Name and version of the AI tool used (e.g., "ChatGPT-4", "DeepSeek-2024").
- Specific purpose (e.g., "initial literature review", "generation of outlines", "analysis of data trends").
- Sections of the original for which it was used.
Content Responsibility
The use of AI in writing, editing, or analysis does not exempt authors from their full responsibility for the originality, accuracy, and veracity of the work. Specifically, they must thoroughly review and verify all material assisted or generated by AI to avoid bias, errors, or plagiarism, as well as ensure compliance with the journal's editorial standards, assuming the consequences of any ethical infringement.
Restricted and Prohibited Uses
The use of AI is permitted as support for improving readability, grammatical correction, or translation, always under the final supervision and validation of the authors. Its declaration is not mandatory if its function is purely auxiliary style.
The use of AI for the manipulation, fabrication, or falsification of research data or for the automatic generation of bibliographic citations that do not correspond to real sources reviewed by the authors is prohibited.
