The article examines the uniqueness of concepts with a complex integrative nature as special mental formations and cognitive operators of meaning generation. The mechanism of synergy between these phenomena is revealed. The idea of a special meaning-generating status of discursive-modus concepts is proposed – these concepts synthesize verbal and non-verbal information in their semantic content to penetrate the intellectual-emotive nature of a given phenomenon, presenting the process of metaphorization as a mental process based on referential relations. The analysis demonstrates that a fundamental premise is the idea that, at the stage of transition from meanings to senses, an emotional component is indispensable: without it, sense ceases to be itself, since sense is, above all, the subject’s attitude toward certain phenomena reflected in the form of a concept – or more precisely, through the semantics of its signifier. It is proven that, much like inner speech, the discursive-modus concept serves as a sign component of discursive consciousness, emerging as a result of the internalization of external speech in an inseparable unity with the figurative and emotional factors of discourse. The essence of the discursive-modus concept is demonstrated, largely determined by its concentration of vast semantic content of dictum and modus nature, synergistically integrating cognitive, cultural, and discursive information, and undergoing significant interpretation by linguo-creative thinking. Using specific examples of phraseological units and metaphorical comparisons from literary works, it is shown that the objective-logical content of the linguistic worldview correlates with concepts, while its expressive-figurative and emotive-evaluative content is genetically linked to mental imagery (in the verbalization of feelings, emotional assessments, methods of emotional influence, and vivid, precise characterizations of people, objects, and phenomena).
