El empoderamiento de las mujeres de Babilonia. Una autora olvidada y tres volúmenes de alta divulgación como caso de estudio

En este artículo se toman tres volúmenes de la colección “By-Paths of Bible Knowledge” como caso de estudio para presentar la recepción de las mujeres de la antigua Babilonia (ca. 2000-1500 a.n.e.) como mujeres empoderadas a finales del siglo xix e inicios del siglo xx n.e. Concretamente nos fijamos en los volúmenes de Margaret Elise Harkness (1854-1923), Archibald Henry Sayce (1846-1933) y Ernest Alfred Wallis Budge (1857-1934), publicados en 1883, 1885 y 1925 respec- tivamente, y dedicados a Asiria o a Babilonia. Con esta elección, además, se reivindica a Harkness, artífice de uno de los volúmenes, a quien hasta ahora se ha prestado escasa atención, como autora de divulgación y buena conocedora de los estudios sobre Mesopotamia antigua de su tiempo.
